SNEAK PEeK to “New additions”

To get this and other professional-looking shots of Ben, I set up a small studio in the corner of my living room.  The reason that I chose this corner is because there are two windows there that let in beautiful, indirect light.  The door on the right is facing north, and you can usually find some good light by a north facing window.

You can see in the photo that I pinned up some old, white sheets to use as a backdrop and, more importantly, to diffuse the light even more.  Under the sheets on the floor are some other blankets that I used for padding so that my baby was not uncomfortably laying on a hard floor.

I did not have any other lights on in the room so that I could use only natural light.  These were my camera’s settings:

Manual mode

f/2.2

1/50

ISO 200

Exposure bias: -2.3ev (Truth be told, I didn’t realize I had my exposure bias set.  It probably would have been better if this was not adjusted as such.)

I used a Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 lens

In the post processing, I adjusted the white balance because the photo looked a little blue, and I also increased the exposure a bit.
