As my boys reach certain milestones - my six month old is beginning to eat solid food and can almost sit up by himself without tipping over & my three year old is finally finally starting to use the potty - I am reminded of a blog post I wrote a long time ago titled “Turnings.” That post is gone now, but its theme will live on in my life forever. Simply put, it was about how this is the time for me to be a mother. Everything else on my “I want to do” list must and can wait for these little boys to turn into men because this is the time they need from me, and this is the time I need from them. Sometimes I want to pull my hair out when I look at the filthy house and the messy desk and a calendar of events that I cannot attend with children in tow, but if you magically duplicated me so that I could be in two places at once, I am pretty sure that both my selves would be right here, wiping spit up and praising poop. Then again, maybe not, but it’s just as well.
Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time for every purpose, under Heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep....
