I hope everyone reading this has had some wonderful holidays! I wanted to post a Christmas photo here yesterday, but I never found the time, and now that I’m perusing the photos I took, I cannot find one that I want to post. I am still learning how to use my new flash, and with a cluttered household, my indoor shots are more “snapshots” than quality photos. So, I found this photo I took of Aidan in October at the Atlanta zoo. I love this old fashioned-looking water fountain and the carousel in the background.
Do you differentiate between “snapshots” and better photography? Do you try not to take snapshots, or do you throw photos out that you don’t find to be of higher standards? Personally, I treasure many of the snapshots I take because they are usually of my kids in everyday situations. The lighting may be poor, the background might be messy, but I keep the photos because they are part of my family’s memories. I do, however, search for the better quality photos among my many snapshots. I post several of them here. I have to take a lot of bad photos before I find the few that I feel have the right light, composition, background, facial expression, focus, etc. And sometimes, though a photo might not be perfect, it might have that special magic that makes me want to share it. I would love to hear your take on this.
