If you read any photographer’s blogs, you may already know how protecting one’s photos on the Internet is an issue. I have even mentioned it myself. I wonder, however, how many non-photography people go online and lift photos for whatever reason - presentations at work or their own blogs - without realizing that this is unethical and that they are infringing upon the photographer’s rights. Well, I have found an excellent post on this very topic written by one of my favorite online people, Diane Schuller. Diane is a lifestyle photographer based in Alberta, Canada. Her photos are fabulous, and you can find some very good posts about photography and business on her blog. I highly recommend this post, which is in response to someone who asked if it was okay to take her photograph.
I would love to know your thoughts on this topic, and if you are a photographer, what measures have you taken to protect your photos online?
